Overview

Jenn McMillan is a recognized advocate in family law. Jenn has been engaged in the art of advocacy from a young age, naturally drawn to the intellectual challenge of persuasion and the satisfaction of guiding others toward her perspective.

With twenty years of experience, Jenn has a proven track record of educating her clients to navigate what is a particularly challenging time in their lives. With their confidence restored and an element of control over their lives re-established, Jenn’s clients are empowered to determine their own future.

Jenn acts for both fathers and mothers in parenting cases and has experience with complex issues, including mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, child protection, re-integration of a parent, clinical issues with expert participation, relocation, 2SLGBTQIA+ and identity, parent-child contact problems, including alienation and justified rejection, supervision of parenting time, and no contact cases.

In addition to parents, Jenn also acts for grandparents, extended family members, or foster parents who are required and willing to step into the role of a parent for the children in their care; these cases often result in adoptions, which are bright spots in what can often be very challenging processes for families.

Jenn has extensive experience with complex property division and both child and spousal support, which includes cases with high income(s), high value net worth, trusts, imputation of income, determination of income for support considering corporate, farming, rental and other non-T4 income, working with experts to determine business and other asset values, creative property settlements, as well as retroactive claims and enforcement.

In her community, Jenn is the Past President and current Vice President of the Huron Law Association, Treasurer of the Perth Law Association, as well as a member of the Bruce & Grey Law Associations. Jenn has served for years as the law associations representative with the Federation of Law Associations of Ontario. She is the Past Co-President of the South West Region Women’s Law Association, Past President of the Board of Directors of Victim Services of Huron County and the Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic, and past board member for Huron Hospice.
