Remote/In Person Corporate/Commercial Clerk


We are seeking a tech savvy, highly motivated, articulate, team-oriented clerk to join our corporate/commercial team. The Ross Firm runs a paperless, cloud-based practice. Our corporate/commercial team handles a full and sophisticated corporate/commercial practice including; Federal and Provincial incorporations (including NFPs), minute book upkeep including annuals, changes to director’s officers, asset and share sale/purchases, reorgs, estate freezes and commercial transactions. The practice covers southwestern Ontario and beyond, including our five offices in Goderich, Stratford, Kincardine, Port Elgin and Owen Sound (opening June, 2021).

 

The successful candidate will be located in Grey or Bruce County to work out of our Owen Sound or Port Elgin office(s) or we have the ability for the candidate to work remotely. The candidate will have at least 5 years of practice specific experience and be able to work with minimal supervision. They will have proven client management skills, strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, and a love of technology and innovation.

 

Primary Duties:

 

  • Work closely with the lawyers, clerks and administrative professionals with carriage of each file.
  • Effectively participate on the team to provide excellent service to clients.
  • Complete all substantive information gathering, drafting and participate in the management of corporate/commercial projects/closings. 
  • Operate seamlessly with technology and practice software, including, but not limited to Unity, CLIO, Net Documents, Microsoft Office, Fox-It, and Adobe.
  • Maintain daily task list for all client files.
  • Any other tasks as assigned.

  • Assist with Plaintiff at-fault files, including tracking and managing document requests,
    tracking limitation periods, drafting and serving/filing Notice of Intent to Commence
    Action, Statutory Declarations, Statements of Claim, Affidavit of Documents,
    Mediation Briefs, tracking and managing Undertakings following Examinations for
    Discovery.For

criminal defence files:

  • Track requests for Criminal Disclosure and review/organize Criminal Disclosure.
  • Track Criminal First Appearance Court dates on all files and file Counsel Appearance
    Lists.
  • Schedule Crown Resolution Meetings, Judicial Pre-Trials, resolution dates with Crown
    staff, court staff and other parties.
  • Draft and serve/file Judicial Pre-Trial Memos and Pre-Trial Applications.
  • Any other tasks as assigned.

Family Law Clerk – Remote and In Office Positions
