Corporate/Commercial Law Clerk – NEW


We are seeking a tech savvy, highly motivated, articulate, team-oriented clerk to join our corporate law team. The Ross Firm runs a paperless, cloud-based practice. Our corporate team handles incorporations, amendments, and managing ongoing corporate maintenance of all our corporate clients. The practice covers southwestern Ontario and beyond, including our six offices in Goderich, Stratford, Kincardine, Port Elgin, Owen Sound and Walkerton. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of practice specific experience and be able to work with minimal supervision. They will have proven client management skills, strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, and a love of technology and innovation.

Primary Duties:

  • Work closely with the lawyers, clerks and administrative professionals with carriage of each file.
  • Effectively participate on the team to provide excellent service to clients.
  • Communicate by telephone and e-mail with clients, opposing counsel, corporate agents, and other parties as required and or instructed.
  • Complete all substantive information gathering, drafting and participate in the management of corporate/commercial projects/closings
  • Operate seamlessly with technology and practice software, including, but not limited to Unity, CLIO, Net Documents, Microsoft Office, Fox-It, and Adobe.
  • Maintain daily task list for all client files.
  • Any other tasks as assigned.

Civil Litigation Paralegal – NEW


We are seeking a tech savvy, highly motivated, articulate, team-oriented paralegal to join our civil law and criminal teams. The Ross Firm runs a paperless, cloud-based practice. Our civil litigation and criminal teams handle a wide variety of matters and covers southwestern Ontario and beyond, including our six offices in Goderich, Stratford, Kincardine, Port Elgin, Owen Sound and Walkerton. The successful candidate will have 5 years of experience in Small Claims Court, Landlord Tenant Board, Provincial Offences, and Criminal and be able to work with minimal supervision. Provincial Prosecution experience is an asset. The successful candidate will have proven client management skills, strong analytical, communication, and drafting skills, an entrepreneurial attitude, and a love of technology and innovation. Primary Duties:

 

  • Work closely with the licensees, clerks and administrative professionals with carriage of each file.
  • Effectively participate on the team to provide excellent service to clients.
  • Draft pleadings, including statements of claim, applications, defences, affidavit of documents, motion records, affidavits, orders, and any other documents as instructed.
  • Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties as required and or instructed.
  • Communicate by telephone and e-mail with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties as required and or instructed.
  • Operate seamlessly with technology and practice software, including, CLIO, ACL, Net Documents, Wise Time, Microsoft Office, Nuance/Kofax, and Adobe.
  • Demonstrate domain knowledge, and specific familiarity with the Rules of Civil Procedure, relevant legislation, and significant cases in your day to day work.
  • Maintain daily task list for all client files and docket your time.

We are seeking a tech savvy and highly motivated Senior Bookkeeper/ Accountant to join our team. We run a paperless, cloud-based practice. The successful candidate can work out of our Goderich office and/or work remotely. They will also have at least four years of accounting experience and be able to work independently.

Be part of a company where your primary duties will include:

  • Manage, maintain and keep accurate financial records; 
  • Conduct day-to-day accounting transactions; 
  • Account reconciliation and analysis; 
  • Process cheques, e-transfers, credit card payments, accounts payable, and payroll;
  • Prepare financial projections and monitoring results; 
  • Be the main point of contact and manage the relationship with the bank, insurance, accounting firm and other suppliers as needed; 
  • Review and monitor annual budget; 
  • Prepare reports including but not limited to cash flow, year-end, MAR, costing, financial results, variance, key metrics and special reports as needed; and
  • Conduct real estate banking.

Consider joining our team if you have:

  • A minimum four years of accounting experience; 
  • Strong accounting knowledge and skills obtained through experience and/or designation;
  • Experience working with QuickBooks online and Clio, considered beneficial; 
  • Knowledge of compliance reporting within a law firm, considered beneficial; 
  • Strong computer skills; 
  • Critical thinking skills and flexibility to adapt quickly to change.
